The Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Board in Harrisburg has appointed Karin Tananis as its new executive director.

Lee Showalter, chairman of the board, said, "The board is proud to announce this appointment. During her service as interim program director, Karin has continued to move the program forward while demonstrating an ability to interact well with the industry. The Pennsylvania apple marketing program exists for the benefit of our grower constituents and will continue to focus on working with all marketers to facilitate successful marketing of the crop. We look forward to implementing productive promotional programs as we approach a new crop year."
Ms. Tananis is no stranger to the apple industry. In 1998, Ms. Tananis left Knouse Foods for a newly created position with the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Board. She served for three years as manager of communications and marketing before accepting a position within the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a trade specialist within the Bureau of Markets. In January 2004, she returned to the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program as an executive assistant.
