PEAKfresh delivers on cherry freshness
Freshness is the name of the game at PEAKfreshUSA, located in Lake Forest, CA.
The company and its partner, XPEDX, are working together to ensure that cherry growers in the Pacific Northwest can provide their own customers with packaging that extends product shelf life and guarantees freshness.
“This is feedback from customers packing cherries in the Washington basin up to Canada,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Ganzerla.

PEAKfresh has given customers the comfort of knowing their cherries are just as fresh, if not fresher than other MAP liners used. Customers have been 100 percent satisfied, with not one issue in the past three years. This gives our customers comfort knowing PEAKfresh continues to prove itself by offering the quality and service they have come to associate with this MAP liner.”
PEAKfresh is a low-density polyethylene packaging film specifically developed for fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and cut flowers. The company’s website states, “When used with refrigeration at correct temperature levels, PEAKfresh will extend the life of your product and maintain its freshness.”
The company’s Modified Atmosphere Packaging, which does not use harmful carbon dioxide gasses for preservation, is made with minerals that naturally remove ethylene gas produced by cherries and other fruit. Packaging is made in the United States and is certified for organic use.
“The advantage is the shelf life that our bag creates for cherries,” Ganzerla added. “We have both box liners and pallet covers that work very well for this commodity. We want to make sure our customers get the maximum shelf life from their product when shipped long distances. It’s always good to hear from faraway places like Australia with comments on how good their cherries look and taste that are shipped in PEAKfresh.”
