Nunhems opens new service center in Mexico
Nunhems, a major global producer of vegetable seeds, has opened a new service center in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, according to Clark Huffman, director of marketing and sales for Nunhems USA.
"Our objective is to be able to provide our customers with services that are more responsive than ever and to take advantage of Leon's strategic central Mexico location and interior port and transportation capabilities as an excellent hub for distribution to the rest of the country," Mr. Huffman said in a statement.
The new Leon facility boasts some 3,280 square feet of warehouse and office space, with nearly 1,000 square feet devoted to cold storage. Formerly located in Celayo, an hour-and-a-half drive to the west, the new center just off Leon's main boulevard includes expanded staffing to meet growing customer service requirements.
According to Mr. Huffman, the Leon site offers Nunhems Mexico and its customers some important advantages. A pattern of growth attributed in part to the area's traditional and burgeoning shoe industry has precipitated significant changes in this city that dates back to 1576. The results of Leon's contemporary economic energy stand out vividly in a town that was born during the European Renaissance. The city is now home to an international airport geared to visitors from around the world. Leon is also constructing an interior port, which will allow imported international products and outbound Mexican exports to clear through Customs locally.
Citing these changes and their economic impact, Mr. Huffman noted, "The port will help us provide even quicker customer response and build on the excellent customer service reputation that Nunhems has worked diligently to achieve. We're excited that our move and new location give us an excellent base for continued growth and an opportunity for our grower and distributor customers to put the best in the world on their side."
Nunhems, headquartered in the Netherlands, operates with nearly 1,000 employees in 20 countries. The U.S. headquarters are in Parma, ID.
