He added that the company is also in the process of developing new growing partners for some of New Limeco’s key products.
The company’s line of tropical and Hispanic products is comprised of Florida avocados, limes, papaya, mamey, carambola, mangos, dry and water coconuts, guava, dragon fruit, kumquats and other tropical fruits.
“In addition to other items, our tropical vegetable line features chayote, yucca, malanga roots, ginger, yams, peppers, sour oranges and aloe leaves,” Caram noted. “We pack Florida avocados 10 months of the year. Papayas are year round, as are our limes and root vegetables. Many of our items are produced in Florida, and papayas are grown in Guatemala.”
He explained that currently the Costa Rica chayote program has been affected by cold temperatures and rain.
Although the company has been handling guavas, it now has its own 10-acre red guava field in Florida, which is food-safety certified from field to packing plant.
