Branding helps build recognition for Borton & Sons
Borton & Sons Inc., located in Yakima, WA, continues to promote brand awareness in its retail displays.
“Consumers are highly established with the Washington apple brand, and we made sure the ‘Fresh Washington Apples’ popped from the high density orchard photo we placed behind as our main graphic,” said Lindsay Ehlis, part of the company’s sales and marketing team.
Borton & Sons Inc. has designed its retail display bins and bags to focus attention on branding of fresh Washington apples. Consumers are also able to get more information about the Borton family and its growing practices by scanning QC graphics. (Photo courtesy of Borton & Sons Inc.)“The natural wood around the outside of the image makes for a very nice, real wooden bin feel,” she continued. “Included on the front panel is the Washington apple logo as well as the ‘Fruits & Veggies — More Matters’ logo, a very highly recognized message and logo created by our friends at the Produce For Better Health Foundation.”
Side panels feature varietal descriptions that assist consumers in choosing apples for eating and cooking.
“The display will fit nicely anywhere in the produce department and is capable of holding both bagged and bulk product,” she commented.
Regular soft net bag header film has been updated to match the bins.
“The bag header will have the same image and verbiage on the front side of the film,” Ehlis continued.
Information on the backside of the film includes some health benefits, storage tips and nutritional information. “The regular bag header is for all varieties, although we are currently working on a similar graphic for our vertical soft net bags that will be variety specific,” she added.
Sky Johnson, also in sales and marketing, said branding with “Fresh Washington Apples” is important.
“We believe that this graphic will catch the eye of shoppers and offer a link to learning more about where their fruit is coming from,” Johnson said.
“These Fresh Bins and bags will complement the trending consumer’s interest in connecting with who the farmer is,” he added.
“The QR graphic will allow for the consumer to scan and learn about the Borton family history, practices and farming locations, which is highly important these days in our industry.”
