Key Food announces new store openings
Key Food Stores Co-operative Inc., a chain of independently owned and operated grocery stores, held grand opening celebrations June 14 for three new stores in two New York City boroughs.
The grand opening ceremonies, one held in Staten Island and two in Queens, drew New York City government officials as well as high-ranking executives from the cooperative.
At the grand opening in Staten Island on the borough's North Shore, Key Food Vice President of Business Development Gino Palummo said,
The June 14 ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grand opening of Key Food Stores' Bay Street location in Staten Island, NY. "This neighborhood deserves the best and we are very proud to open our newest store on Bay Street. "This store is a large part of our continued effort to open quality supermarkets in all areas of Staten Island."
"We are very excited to be a part of the Key Food family," commented store owner Mike Said. "This neighborhood deserves a convenient supermarket that offers high quality and low prices. We could not be happier to open our doors and be a part of the community."
In Queens, both new Key Food locations are in the Long Beach neighborhood and were previously operating under different names. They joined the Key Food family earlier this year to provide customers with lower prices, higher quality, and better variety.
"The people of Long Beach deserve quality supermarkets," said Palummo. "This is a very strong community that is still continuing to rebuild after Superstorm Sandy. Since becoming a part of Key Food, these two stores have not only reopened their doors to residents, but they are now able to serve them better than before. We are very proud to be here."
