Kelly Bros. launches its own trademarked Costa Rican pineapple
Kelly Bros. Inc. is a relatively new company with a relatively young owner, bringing his own brand of passion and creativity to fruit marketing.
Patrick Kelly, 28, started Kelly Bros. Inc. five years ago with the ambition to serve the industry with quality and integrity. The company began by working in citrus and then expanded into watermelons, stone fruit, grapes and pineapples. Each commodity has been teamed with a Kelly Bros. character.
The company is kicking off 2014 by trademarking its name, logo and its own brand of Costa Rican pineapples, called "Goldies."
"We did the trademark because growers like that we are building a new, fun brand and marketing program in the U.S. We are building a more customized program for the growers like we have done with our citrus growers. We are selling whole pineapples and taking the fresh product processed and look to market the brand to new sectors this summer," Kelly said.
Kelly Bros. Inc. has been building relationships with growers, processors and distributors. It has studied growing regions, sustainability, traceability, quality and corporate governance to be able to provide sweet Costa Rican pineapples year-round. Goldies sweet pineapples are grown in Costa Rica on farms from Sarapiqui to San Jose.
Now that the trademark is complete, Kelly Bros.' Goldies boxes are being produced and will be carrying fresh pineapples to the U.S. market this summer. Kelly said that Goldies pineapples is just the next step to providing new products to its partners on an on-going basis.
