John Vena Inc. adds warehouse operations manager
PHILADELPHIA " John Vena Inc. announced the addition of a new warehouse operations manager to oversee its recently purchased facility on Galloway Street. Joseph Aquilino has extensive experience in all aspects of produce operations management.
?Joe will develop this operation from the ground up," said John Vena, president of John Vena Inc. "We are confident that Joe has the expertise to pilot our new enterprise in the right direction."
The main operation will provide a range of services centered on short-term storage and forward distribution of greenhouse products. In addition, the facility will house a small pack-to-order operation that will repackage fresh herbs, chili peppers, garlic, ginger and specialties for foodservice and retail customers.
Mr. Aquilino was most recently a co-manager at Food Basics Supermarkets. For 20 years, he worked in warehouse operations for the M. Levin Co. and Restaurant Depot Inc. He specializes in the purchasing and inspection of perishables and is certified in HACCP.
The warehouse, located at 3655 Galloway Street, is one block south of the current Philadelphia Regional Produce Market, and less than one mile from the new market location, which is expected to be completed in 2007. Mr. Vena is optimistic that his acquisition of the warehouse along with Mr. Aquilino?s experience will result in a higher level of service to his shippers and customers.
