Jimmy Nardelli comes on board at Nardelli Bros.
Jimmy Nardelli graduated from the University of Delaware this spring and immediately joined the family business, Nardelli Bros. Inc., in Cedarville, NJ.
The youngest son of company President Bill Nardelli, Jimmy joins his older brother, Bill Jr., both of whom have worked for the company since they were very young.
“Farming is not new to them,” said Bill Nardelli. “Jimmy prefers the outdoors tending to the farm and crops, so is tuned into production. Under Bill Jr.’s guidance, our business is now 90 percent electronically operated. He is also articulate with food-safety inspections and certifications.”
He added that Jimmy’s warm personality makes him a good salesman, and Bill Jr. is very active with business development. Nardelli said they make a perfect team.
Nardelli Bros. recently added an additional packing facility to its operation, and it has purchased the Cedarville cooperative building, although the coop remains in business. Cooling, packing and distribution is also handled at its Vineland facility.
“As we grow, we need more packing space,” explained Nardelli. “We purchased four new stainless production lines last fall and spent the winter refitting them to our specifications. They’re up and running now, and will service us advantageously.”
A year-round supplier of a wide range of commodity items, its operation in Plant City, FL, starts the season.
It then transitions up the East Coast, and back southward at the end of the New Jersey fall deal in December.
“From this point on we’ll be running full boar,” said Nardelli, “There is a lot of interest in our leaf commodities because of the shortages in California, likely due to the drought or general weather conditions.”
