Global Berry Farms to supply 'Naturipe' brand organic cranberries
Global Berry Farms LLC, headquartered in Naples, FL, is for the first time ever offering "Naturipe" brand organic cranberries to its customers.
The cranberries will be grown and packed by Sandhill Cranberry Inc. in Wisconsin, a leading fresh organic cranberry grower in the country. The berries will be available from October through December.
This is a great addition to our product line, John Shelford, president of Global Berry Farms, said in a statement. Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, cranberries are becoming a great choice for the health-conscious consumer. And there continues to be a growing demand for organic products.
The Naturipe brand cranberries will be marketed in seven-ounce clamshells, packed 12 to a case. The clamshells offer a non-traditional package for consumers, and provide great merchandising opportunities for retailers.
We grow high-quality fresh organic cranberries in central Wisconsin the heart of cranberry country, said Dan Wandler, owner of Sandhill Cranberry, whose organic cranberries are USDA-certified by Midwest Organic Services Association. Sandhill, a family-owned-and-operated business, will handle 44 production acres this year.
Regarding the yields for this season, Mr. Wandler stated, The Wisconsin weather has been perfect for growing cranberries, and a record crop is expected. We are also set to produce our largest crop ever with better yields per acre.
Half the organic cranberries produced by Sandhill Cranberry will be sold through Global Berry Farms.
In addition to the organic cranberries, Global Berry Farms will be offering conventional cranberries this fall. The berries will be available in 12-ounce clamshells packed 24 to a case. They will be sourced from both Wisconsin and Michigan.
Global Berry Farms LLC was formed in 2000 as a partnership among three of the world's leading berry suppliers: Hortifrut SA in Santiago, Chile; MBG Marketing in Grand Junction, MI; and Naturipe Berry Growers in Salinas, CA.
Through this international partnership and alliances with premier growers, Global Berry Farms markets a full line of berries under the Naturipe label throughout the year.
