Produce industry veteran Andy Siegel has teamed with Oxnard, CA-based Gills Onions to support the company's growing product lines. Mr. Siegel and his national sales team of Chicago-based Fresh Connect will support Gills Onions on a national level with sales training, sales meetings and trade show support.
Mr. Siegel and the Fresh Connect team will work closely with Gills Onions on the promotion of its whole peeled onion program. The whole peeled onion was introduced as a way for foodservice operators to save on freight and prep costs by offering 30-pound cartons of fresh-peeled jumbo yellow onions and 20-pound fresh-peeled jumbo red onions with 100 percent yield. With skyrocketing freight costs and food safety at the forefront of foodservice operators' concerns, the whole peeled onion is a logical solution.
