Earthbound Farm’s Goodman discusses big organic at NYC event
Myra Goodman, co-founder of Earthbound Farm, a leading organic food company, will be a featured presenter at the fourth annual “Changing the Way We Eat” event, an upcoming TEDx Manhattan talk in New York City that addresses issues in sustainable food and farming.
The event will be available via live webcast on Saturday, March 1 starting at 10:30 a.m. EST, and Goodman will take the stage by 4:30 p.m. There will also be a daylong Twitter conversation: @tedxmanhattan or #TEDxMan.
Goodman's talk, “In Praise of Big Organic,” will challenge the idea that organic farming has become industrialized. It will also clarify the organic vs. local debate and address the idea that big organic farms are somehow less authentic.
Earthbound Farm was recently acquired by The WhiteWave Foods Co., but it continues to operate as a separate business unit.
“With Earthbound Farm as part of our portfolio, WhiteWave will now provide the two most popular gateways for consumers to enter into the organic category – produce and dairy – and have a significant foothold in the fresh foods category, which represents one of the most attractive, emerging trends in the food industry today,” Gregg Engles, chairman and chief executive officer of WhiteWave, said at the time of the acquisition. “We look forward to partnering with our talented colleagues at Earthbound Farm as we continue to work to change the way the world eats for the better.”
Other featured speakers include David McInerney, co-founder of FreshDirect, and Paul Lightfoot, CEO of BrightFarms.
