E. Armata heading into its future with a new easy-to-navigate website
E. Armata, a full-line distributor located on Hunts Point, Bronx, NY, has a strong and solid reputation for doing business the right way. That includes its aim to stay on the cutting edge of technology on every level, from its totally renovated Hunts Point facility to its internal and external operations.
The company announced the launch of a new website that went live Aug. 27. Designed and developed to draw both suppliers and customers, the new site is easy to navigate and provides visitors with everything needed.
Paul Armata, vice president; Chris Armata, president; and John Acompora, sales and procurement.
Family member Michael Armata oversees berry buying and sales and is the son of E. Armata President Chris Armata, who works alongside his brother, Paul Armata, vice president of the company.
Michael boasts sweeping floors in the facility since age 10. He joined the company full time seven years ago at age 20. He and his siblings, Nick Armata and Chelsea Armata, have helped to bring the company’s operations into the technological future. Another young generation member, Ryan Kelly, a sales representative and assistant fruit buyer, has also had a strong hand in its technical advances, including the new website’s redesign.
“Ryan and I went to college together and formed a strong friendship,” said Armata. “He started working with us many years ago. We continually discuss new ideas. It’s good to have a point of view from outside of our family members.”
Non-family members who are considered as much family as the Armatas themselves includes John Acompora, a multi-decade team member who works in sales and procurement.
In fact, Acompora and his wife, Karen, are godparents of Michael. Louis Acompora, the son of the Acomporas, died at age 14 in 2000 when playing goalie in a lacrosse game. He blocked what appeared to be a routine shot with his chest protector, but it was far from routine. He took a few steps and then collapsed. Paramedics arrived with a defibrillator almost 15 minutes later, but they were too late.
The Acomporas soon learned that had an automated external defibrillator, or AED, been on hand Louis would have survived. Soon after, the couple founded the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation, and since they and other supporters, including E. Armata, have worked tirelessly to inform and educate the public about AEDs, sudden cardiac arrest, CPR and numerous other life-saving techniques.
“The new website will have a direct link to the foundation, and we encourage people to go to the site to see the phenomenal work it continues to do,” said Armata.
The Armata family’s close bond to and support of others is well-known to all who are familiar with the company, and the new website depicts that message.
“Our goal was to have a website that was highly organized, easy to navigate through and provided all of the information that shippers and customers could need,” continued Armata. “Visitors to the site can see our full line of items, and our ability to fulfill special requests. It is extremely user friendly, yet it offers everything anyone wants or needs.”
The site includes information on the company’s food-safety certifications and its ongoing work in it and in quality control.
The new website’s high-tech abilities will enable anyone, from any part of the globe, to engage in business, make inquiries and connect with E. Armata staff at all times from their mobile device.
The website also portrays E. Armata’s future goals and its ability to innovate and do things differently than its competitors. It shares the company’s culture, its operation and a first-hand look at its cutting-edge facility.
It also emphasizes the company’s large and continually growing transportation and logistics division.
“We are doing more deliveries throughout the Northeast, and even into more southern regions, than ever before,” noted Armata. “And customers picking up their produce from our facility will find our process efficient, fast and reliable. We are experts at getting trucks loaded flawlessly.”
Armata pointed out that the company’s shippers are held in high esteem, and the new website offers information on the companies.
Staff members are also imperative to the company. Armata said that he has worked with all of the team members, and has learned something important from each one, regardless of their status or title.
“What we are proud of here at Armata has nothing to do with ego,” said Armata. “It’s about honest and fair business and passing that on to everyone we are involved with. Our motto, Let’s Grow Together, means that at the end of the day everyone gets fed.”
