DNE signs marketing pact with Calif. grower
Golden Farms Express, a top-quality fresh citrus independent grower and packer from the Dinuba area in the San Joaquin Valley, is the latest California producer to affiliate with DNE California Inc. beginning with this fall's Navel packing season.
"Experience counts, and in this instance, it works both ways," DNE World Fruit Sales President Greg Nelson said in a statement. "The producer team has more than 80 years in the business, and our own experienced California division's sales team has been acquainted with them for more than four decades. We rely on that combination of support and trust to assure our customers they will get only the best quality citrus."
Golden Farms Express is owned by lifelong Dinuba farmer Bill Goerzen. The packinghouse, which processes early, mid and late Navel and Valencia oranges, is managed by Lee Willis, who has been involved in the San Joaquin Valley citrus deal since 1962.
"Bill and Lee run a hands-on operation and are familiar with all levels of the business," Dave Bernstein, general manager of DNE California, added in the statement. "We admire their professionalism, and I'm confident we can count on them to provide the utmost quality in every pack."
"We're very pleased with this new marketing alliance," said Mr. Willis. "It is our pleasure to renew our business ties with Dave and another longtime friend, Mark Tompkins [vice president of sales and marketing for DNE California]. We look forward to a long and beneficial association."
Mr. Tompkins said that his Visalia office is anxious to kick off sales in California's Navel season that is just getting underway. Golden Farms Express joins DNE's other citrus producers - Booth Ranches LLC of Orange Cove and the DiMare Co. in Indio - whose No. 1 grade fruit bears the "Ocean Spray" label.
These shippers complement and augment DNE's position as a leading independent year-round marketer of citrus to domestic and export markets. In addition to its Florida, California and Texas operations, DNE's has ties with suppliers in Australia, South Africa, Spain, Morocco, Chile and Mexico.
