D’Arrigo proud to support Eastern apples
Matthew D’Arrigo, vice president of D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of New York Inc., located at the Hunts Point Terminal Produce Cooperative Market in the Bronx, NY, said as of early August the Eastern apple crop appeared to be in good condition.
“It looks like we’re set for a very good-size apple crop with nice quality,” said D’Arrigo. “We are looking forward to getting behind a beautiful crop from the Northeast.”
D’Arrigo Bros. is a full-line wholesale produce distribution enterprise, selling everything there is to find in fresh fruit and vegetables. After more than 50 years in business, it claims that what separates it from other companies in the marketplace is its loyal supplier base.
D’Arrigo’s customer base includes independent wholesalers, purveyors, retailers and foodservice operators, of which combined serves 18 million people daily. Its primary customers are independent retailers, many of which are referred to as green grocers.
D’Arrigo always has a wide selection of apples on hand.
“We sell apples from all areas that are available to us,” said D’Arrigo. “Apples from everywhere in the country are always represented here at the market. It’s just real nice to have a great crop from our own state, and we’re particularly proud to acknowledge the Hudson and Champlain valleys of New York in our mix.”
