Daily Fresh Distributing anticipates a good spring
RIO RICO, AZ — With Daily Fresh Distributing Inc., located here, heading into its third spring Nogales deal, company founder Paul Bachelier is enjoying a strong business.
Daily Fresh markets grapes for its partner, Agrofesa, a grower in Hermosillo, Sonora.
Daily Fresh otherwise distributes cucumbers, mini-cucumbers, yellow and green squash, red and green peppers and eggplant.
Daily Fresh Distributing’s John Uribe, sales representative, with Gloria Arreola, office manager, and Paul Bachelier, president.Bachelier said Feb. 10 that Mexico’s growing weather “has been very nice” and that the prospects for timely and high quality produce were good.
Mexican grape shipments are to begin in the May 13-15 range and will run until mid-June.
After Hurricane Manuel dumped between 14 and 24 inches of rain on Culiacan in September, the farms first had to deal with flooded crops and then viruses in the soil, Bachelier said. The situation has improved in 2014, with unseasonably high temperatures, which may accelerate production.
This is Bachelier’s third year since launching Daily Fresh in 2011.
“It has been good. We have had good grower support. We have really and truly sold quality from the beginning. We are here for the long-term. We have a lot of relationships in Mexico. It’s a matter of finding the right combination that works for us all,” he said.
