Daak’s introduces new services
As Daak’s International prepares its traditional California season of vegetables from Fresno, Oxnard and Coachella, it’s also making news with the addition of a new dairy line.
“We’re into dairy products now,” said Sam Thakker, senior vice president of sales and operations director. “As a one-stop full-service supplier to retail stores, Daak’s International felt Dairy was a good fit for the company’s program. And it’s helped the clients also, to save some costs where they were procuring from different regions, and we were able to tap into that marketing. Working directly with dairy helped us control the cost and we were given guaranteed supplies for the whole year.”
Thakker said that when the company ventures into new initiatives, the goal is to establish a sustainable, long-term program.
When asked about challenges the company faces, Thakker pointed out labor, which he said the company divides into two categories: intellectual labor and manual/warehouse labor.
“Right now, there is a shortage at the field levels,” he said. “As far as intellectual labor is concerned, you can find people.”
This season brought other challenges, specifically California’s unusual weather; however, innovations like its new dairy line are sure to make Daak’s International’s future bright. The company also has a rebranded logo.
