Consalo Family Farms sees CPMA as priority
Consalo Family Farms and its distribution side, The Fresh Wave, has seen strong momentum through the first quarter of 2026.
“As our business and customer base continues to expand, we’ve been scaling our operations and making strong investments in our team, including eight new employees in the past year,” said Skip Consalo, CEO of the Vineland, NJ-based company. “Across our key categories, we’re seeing continued demand for high-quality and consistent supply, especially in organics. As a result, we’ve significantly expanded our organic growing program this season to meet that demand.”
At the same time, the company is seeing steady performance in its core vegetable and blueberry programs, with a focus on delivering dependable supply despite ongoing industry challenges.
While the company isn’t exhibiting at this year’s Canadian Produce Marketing Association Convention & Trade Show, it will have representatives there.
“CPMA has always been a priority for our team,” Consalo said. “A significant portion of our business is in the Canadian market, so getting up there and spending time face-to-face with our retail partners is important. As a U.S. headquartered company, we don’t get that same level of in-person interaction throughout the year, so events like CPMA give us the opportunity to be present, strengthen those relationships and stay aligned on market needs heading into our New Jersey growing season.”
The company is also sponsoring the show through on-site branding opportunities.
“It allows us to maintain a visible presence and reinforce our commitment to the market,” Consalo said. “Without the advantage of a booth, we’re approaching the show with a clear sense of who we want to connect with and being intentional about how we spend our time on the floor. We go in knowing which partners, customers, and new connections we want to prioritize.”
Two of the biggest things the company is focused on this year are its expanded organic growing program and the momentum it’s seeing in the Canadian market.
“We’ve made a significant investment in organics this season to keep up with increasing demand, and we’re excited to share that growth with our customers,” Consalo said. “We’re also proud to have recently been ranked the No. 7 fastest-growing brand in Canada in 2025, as reported by Numerator in its 2026 Brands to Watch report. That recognition is especially meaningful to us, and we’re looking forward to connecting with retailers who helped drive that growth and continuing to build on that success together.”
In the Canadian market, Consalo Family Farms has two core categories — vegetables and blueberries.
“On the vegetable side, we’re especially excited about our full lineup of bunched vegetables, leafy greens and herbs as we head into the New Jersey season, all available in both conventional and organic,” Consalo said. “Every year, our focus is on continuing to strengthen the execution of both of these categories. That means investing in newer farm and packing equipment, practicing more sustainable farming efforts, expanding volume and refining our branding. We’re always looking for ways to elevate what we’re offering, and we’re excited about the progress we’ve made heading into the season.”
Looking ahead, the company sees significant opportunity for growth in both its product offerings and its geographic reach, especially within the Canadian market.
“Events like CPMA will continue to play a critical role in that strategy,” Consalo said. “They provide a platform to strengthen relationships, explore new opportunities and stay connected to the evolving needs of the industry. As we continue to grow, maintaining that face-to-face connection will remain a key part of how we do business.”
