Consalo bolsters staff with two key hires
Consalo Family Farms added two experienced procurement professionals to its sourcing team, welcoming Adam Dandrea and Jay Betancourt as procurement managers. These additions further strengthen the company’s procurement capabilities and reinforce its commitment to delivering high-quality produce and dependable year-round programs to customers across North America.
Dandrea joins Consalo Family Farms with more than a decade of experience spanning procurement, sales, logistics, warehousing and produce distribution. Throughout his career, he has managed New Jersey vegetable and blueberry procurement programs, import commodities and warehouse operations while building strong relationships throughout the domestic produce industry.
Most recently, Dandrea owned and operated Ronnie’s Produce LLC, a repack and distribution company specializing in citrus, vegetables and domestic blueberries. He also served as a Northeastern sales associate while also being lead buyer at Fru-Veg Marketing.
As procurement manager, Dandrea will focus on supporting and expanding Consalo’s fruit and vegetable sourcing programs while strengthening grower partnerships and supply relationships throughout key domestic production regions.
Betancourt brings more than 40 years of produce industry experience spanning wholesale, foodservice, retail, import, export and shipping point operations. Throughout his career, he has worked in major produce markets across the United States, including Miami, Philadelphia, New York, Nogales and McAllen, while traveling extensively throughout Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America to develop grower relationships and identify new sourcing opportunities.
A longtime produce industry veteran, Betancourt previously worked for CEO Skip Consalo in Nogales during the late 1990s and now returns to the Consalo family with decades of sourcing expertise and industry relationships.
“The produce business has never just been a job to me. It’s a passion and a way of life,” said Betancourt. “I’ve dedicated my career to building relationships, developing programs, and helping connect growers with customers throughout North America.”
In his role as procurement manager, Betancourt will focus primarily on vegetable procurement while continuing to strengthen grower partnerships and sourcing opportunities throughout North America and Latin America.
The addition of Dandrea and Betancourt further enhances Consalo Family Farms’ procurement and sourcing capabilities while supporting the company’s continued growth across both fruit and vegetable categories. Their combined industry experience, extensive grower networks and deep understanding of the produce supply chain will help strengthen Consalo’s ability to provide customers with reliable supply, exceptional quality and year-round service.
