Christopher Ranch says Pompano Beach facility helps the company ensure quality service to customers in the Southeast
Christopher Ranch, headquartered in Gilroy, CA, ships its wide range of high-quality products across the U.S. and Canada. The company opened a Pompano Beach, FL, office and warehouse in 1997 when it became clear that it needed to be more responsive to its customer base in the Southeast.
“Our Pompano office is headed up by Gus Battaglia,” said Patsy Ross, vice president of marketing. “Gus is originally from Chicago and is a veteran of the produce industry.”
The company has celebrated numerous milestones in recent years. Today, in addition to its Gilroy headquarters and Pompano Beach locations, it has facilities in Edison, NJ, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Although it is famous for its wide range of fresh, peeled, chopped, minced, pickled, roasted and jarred garlic, the company also has an extensive line of specialty items such as specialty onions, ginger, shallots and even cherries and sweet corn.
“Christopher Ranch Pompano Beach carries the full line of Christopher Ranch products,” said Ross. “The facility also handles other produce items as required by the customer base.
Christopher Ranch also continues to celebrate its proprietary “Monviso” garlic.
Over 50 years ago, Don Christopher came upon a variety of garlic that he believed was the most flavorful he had ever tasted. The seed had been cultivated in Italy for centuries, originating in the Piedmont area near Monviso. When Christopher established his ranch in the fertile Santa Clara Valley, he planted the “Monviso” varietal.
Christopher Ranch has also maintained an intensive seed program throughout its history, and it has never sold its beloved seed to any other farmer. Today, consequently, “Monviso” is the only commercially grown heirloom garlic produced in the U.S.
The company’s customers include retailers of all sizes, foodservice operators and industrial clients.
It prides itself on its Good Manufacturing Practices certifications, and guarantees that all fresh, packed, peeled, processed and roasted garlic and other products it offers are manufactured in accordance with all current GMP.
Christopher Ranch also has a comprehensive Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Program, commonly referred to as HACCP, in place to maintain the highest food-safety standards possible. To guarantee those safety standards, the company’s statewide HACCP certifications are performed by PrimusLabs of Santa Maria, CA, and Silliker Inc., in Homewood, IL.
Ross said that having a facility in Pompano Beach enables Christopher Ranch to easily transport, “to retailers, wholesalers and distributors as well as have an easily accessible location for trucks for pick up,” she said. “The warehouse can handle multiple loads of product coming and going.”
