CAFG&S appoints new president
?Like father like son? is an expression that certainly applies to Mike Franzoia, who handles sales and marketing for California Flower Shippers Inc. and was named president of the California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers in December.
Mr. Franzoia?s father, LeRoy Franzoia, who is currently president of California Flower Shippers Inc., was president of CAFG&S in 1987-88 and has been an active member since that time. With the long family heritage of service to the floral industry, Mr. Franzoia has the experience and the vision to govern the association over the next two years.
Mr. Franzoia was born in San Francisco and attended the University of San Diego, where he earned a bachelor?s degree in business administration. Before joining forces with his father at California Flower Shippers in Mountain View, CA, in 1986, he worked for the Xerox Corp. for two years.
He also developed a talent and lifelong passion for photography, and soon three of his photographs will be on display at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists? Gallery.
Mr. Franzoia was a dedicated participant in the WF&FSA Young Executive Program for four years, from 1997 to 2000, acting as chair in 1999.
Mr Franzoia has served on various committees for CAFG&S including the Fun "N Sun Weekend committee and the finance committee, and he has been a member of the association?s board of directors since 1995.
?He has rolled up his shirt sleeves, plunged into his tasks as president and is prepared for the challenge ahead," CAFG&S announced in a press release.
?The board of directors is very strong and we are all looking forward to the future, and I feel confident that we can face the challenges of this changing industry," said Mr. Franzoia. "The association has gone through some difficult transitions in the past few years, but we remain a key force in the California floral industry."
The California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers is a trade association established to represent the professional needs and interests of the floral industry in California. It offers a variety of services to strengthen the floral and agricultural industries by increasing the flow of products from California to destinations throughout the world.
