PASADENA, CA -- The Mixtec Group has announced that industry veteran Leonard Batti has joined the firm as managing and senior partner for its newly opened Monterey/Salinas office.
Chris Nelson, president chief executive officer of the company, said that opening a recruiting office in the heart of the largest growing area has been something he's always wanted to do.
"My partner, Jerry Butt, and I are thrilled to have Leonard Batti join the Mixtec team," Mr. Nelson said in a Jan. 8 statement. "I have known Leonard for over 15 years as a client, a candidate and even as a competitor when I was at Ready Pac. I have also served on industry association boards with him. I sincerely feel that he is the ideal partner for us to head up our new Northern California office. Leonard's native intelligence, iron-clad integrity, strong work ethic and his 30 years of produce experience will auger well in terms of supporting our valued clients search for top talent."
Mr. Nelson further commented, "Leonard has the unique background of learning the produce business literally from the ground up. He started out working in the fields for Fresh Express, and advanced his career as one of the early pioneers in value-added salad processing as VP of operations with both Dole and Tanimura & Antle. Most recently, he left NewStar in Salinas after five years as VP of production and processing. Leonard has also served on the boards of the International Fresh-cut Produce Association, advancing to chairman of the board in 1999, and currently sits on the main board of directors for the Produce Marketing Association."
Mr. Batti expanded on those thoughts by saying, "I have spent my entire career working for great produce companies and hiring many outstanding people. But after personally experiencing Mixtec from both the client and candidate perspective, I've grown to respect the value that they provide for their clients. What they do is so much more comprehensive than what a company can do on [its] own."
