2015 Field to Vase Dinner Tour line-up
A series of ten gatherings across the United States, dubbed the “American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour,” will place seasonal, local and sustainable American grown flowers at the center of the table where locally grown food and beverages are served by a farm-to-table chef, according to a press release. Each gathering will be held at an American flower farm that encourages guests to experience the art and science of flower farming and makes a personal connection between flowers and agriculture.
“Each special dinner places American-grown flowers center stage,” said Kasey Cronquist, chief executive officer and ambassador at the California Cut Flower Commission in the release.
“The Field to Vase Dinner Tour puts a face on the flowers, introducing the farmers, and highlighting why it is so important that flowers at the center of the table be as local as the food on your plate. That’s a powerful experience,” Cronquist added.
Each custom-designed experience will reflect the character and crops of the host farm, with guests enjoying a 30-minute farm tour to get up close and personal with the flowers grown there.
Dinners will highlight up-and-coming chefs who support local farmers and the four-course meal will feature regional, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. A Slow Flowers floral designer will create centerpieces that connect the farm’s surroundings with the décor.
Long trestle farm tables with family-style seating on both sides, rustic table décor and strings of café lighting will transform each location into a casually elegant celebration of American agriculture.
