
¡Yo Quiero! adds corn-based dip to its Super Bowl lineup
¡Yo Quiero! Brands, a Texas-based avocado, guacamole and dip company, is launching a new line of refrigerated Elote Corn Dips, just in time for Super Bowl weekend and the many parties that accompany that annual football event.
“This Mexican-style street corn dip is made with whole kernel corn, peppers and authentic Mexican Cotija cheese,” said Jay Alley, vice president of sales and part owner of the company. “This Elote dip fits perfectly within our dip portfolio. We developed this product based on the popularity of Mexican street corn and we knew it would be a great addition to our ‘Ultimate Dip Destination’ lineup of guacamole, salsa and queso. This product is unique, as there aren’t many options in the marketplace, especially in the fresh produce department.”

¡Yo Quiero! is the consumer brand of Fresh Innovations LLC, a company with state-of-the-art facilities in Rhome, TX, and Guanajuato, Mexico. Alley said the company’s mission is to continue to create and enhance what it calls the ‘Ultimate Dip Destination’ in the refrigerated section of the retail produce department by selecting and growing the freshest and finest ingredients.

Alley said the product was specifically developed to capitalize on the popularity of Mexican sweet corn. “We know that corn dips are very popular, and we wanted to provide consumers a great tasting, authentic street corn dip that didn’t require any work,” he said, adding that it comes in a heat-and-eat container.”
The rollout in January was well-timed. “First and foremost, we wanted to go to market with our Elote dip in time for the big game,” Alley said. “We wanted to introduce our new Elote dip at a time when consumers are looking for new and different dips to either make or take to their big game parties. Our goal is to make consumers’ dip bowls, super.”
Fresh Innovations offered the new product and promotional support to its existing customers first, then presented the opportunity to other retailers.

Alley revealed that for the Elote dips, the company “offered an introduction allowance just in time for the big game. This allows the retailer to promote the item on shelf, which helps with brand awareness and trial.”
