Mountain View Fruit meets customers’ needs with successful, high-quality stone fruit crop

At Mountain View Fruit, this year’s stone fruit crop is anticipated to be large and of high quality, especially considering the ideal California weather conditions during growing season. With this thriving crop the company will be able to meet its customers’ needs and create programs with new partners. The Mountain View organic fruit program has also continued to expand and grow each year.

sdfMountain View is always trying innovative ways to incorporate sustainable practices at the company. “Sustainability is not just being a buzzword to us but a way of growing our fruit, and we continue to look for innovative ways to be more sustainable," said Krista Beckstead, director of marketing for the Reedley, CA-based company.

According to Beckstead, the Summeripe stone fruit process gives the company an edge so it can stand out among its competitors. This proprietary conditioning process uses a special ripening room that keeps track of temperature and humidity, while ensuring that the best quality fruit reaches stores.

“We are constantly working on ways to tell the grower story and letting people know how much work and effort went into getting that piece of Mountain View fruit to your table for you to enjoy,” said Beckstead.

Mountain View has an organic fruit program that showcases where and how its produce is being grown. It was created to assist in the relationship development between consumers, growers and the produce department.  With this program, the company wants to share its growers’ stories with consumers. This is supported with consumers’ interest in the process of how the fruit they purchase is grown and cared for.

sdf“Consumers are not only just eating fruit for a snack or to satisfy a quick sweet craving — they are including fruit in every meal from mixing it with fruit at breakfast to adding it to a salad at lunch to making a glaze or sauce on top of their meat for dinner,” said Beckstead. “The ‘food is medicine’ topic is really taking off and consumers are more cautious about what they are eating and how that will improve their overall performance/health, and this is leading to a higher consumption of fruits and vegetables.”

There are frequent video updates of the process out in the orchards as the crop progresses on social media platforms, as well as giveaways in celebration of its 30-year history of being a family-owned company. There will also be a few custom display contests with a select number of Mountain View’s retailers, which encourages produce managers to build a Mountain View display within their store for a chance to win a grand prize.

The Mountain View team is proud to be a family-owned company since 1994 and continues to practice old-time traditions passed down through generations in combination with new innovated technologies to deliver the best fruit eating experience for its customers.
