PHILADELPHIA — The Chilean & American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia recently honored three individuals who during the course of their careers have had a significant influence on the Chilean fruit industry.

On Nov. 20, Eric and Ryan Jensen, owners and operators of Jensen Farms in Holly, CO, officially assigned their lawsuit against PrimusLabs to Attorney William Marler, a nationally recognized food-safety advocate and managing partner of the Seattle-based law firm Marler Clark. The firm specializes in foodborne illness cases, and Marler represents 46 of the 64 victims of the 2011 Listeria outbreak traced back to tainted cantaloupes grown at Jensen Farms.

WASHINGTON — Federal and state inspectors did not turn up Listeria monocytogenes at the Crunch Pak processing facility, nor did it find deficiencies in the plant's operations, according to Amy Philpott, spokesperson for Crunch Pak, which voluntarily recalled apple slice products earlier this month.

Cashmere, WA-based Crunch Pak launched a Nov. 14 recall of 5,471 cases of apple slice products after Minnesota Department of Agriculture investigators found Listeria monocytogenes in a single sample of a 14-ounce apple slice package taken at retail.
