Last year the young company enjoyed having St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets Inc. as its primary retail client. Daniel Beckmann, CEO of the firm, credits Mike Tipton, vice president of Schnucks, for being highly cooperative and a central factor in boosting the firm’s early success.

The Produce Marketing Association hired Iván Correa to serve as the country representative in Chile.  Correa will serve as a resource and in-country support for PMA members and the industry providing relevant PMA resources and information and sharing Chilean insights and successes to the global audience. Correa’s primary role will focus on being an expert and point of contact for industry members in Chile, and facilitating critical business connections in the produce and floral industries.

The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation announced the second cohort of its Innovation Fund. From a pool of more than 145 applicants, the Fund selected 10 startups to receive a total of $2.5 million in funding to launch innovative new consumer products made with surplus food or food byproducts and technologies to advance the upcycled food industry.

As part of its commitment to provide customers with fresh, healthy items at a great value, Stop & Shop has launched a pilot program for the Flashfood mobile app at four of its Worcester-area stores in Massachusetts. The free app gives shoppers access to exclusive deals on items, including produce, meat, seafood, dairy, deli and bakery, which are nearing their best-by date. In addition to offering great deals for customers, the app also helps Stop & Shop in its goal to reduce food waste by 50 percent by 2030.
