Industry veteran Michael Papaleo has retired from C&S Wholesale Grocers. The now former executive vice president and chief procurement officer will continue to support the company as a strategic advisor through the coming year.

Mark McGowan, executive vice president, retail and chief merchandising officer, will lead C&S’s merchandising organization. Andrew Connell, senior vice president, procurement, will now lead all procurement, demand planning and inbound planning.

Officials at the New Jersey Department of Agriculture have a lot to talk about at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral show. With its signature Jersey Fresh brand celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, officials at the NJDA want to rejoice in the program’s success and let more and more people know about the many crops grown in the state that is home to nearly 9,900 farms and about 750,000 acres of farmland.

There was a lot to celebrate in September. It has International Literacy Day and International Day of Peace. For those who took up bread baking during COVID-19, it’s also Sourdough September. It’s even my birthday.
