Morning Kiss, Gold Bell introduce compostable packaging
February is Potato Lover's Month, and Arrowfarms companies Morning Kiss Organic and Gold Bell are celebrating by introducing new, fully compostable paper bag potato packaging. Among the most popular items in the produce department, potatoes have a high rate of consumption across all demographics. Now, with fully compostable packaging, there are even more reasons to love potatoes.
The new potato packaging bags are made of two-ply paper, with compostable glue used around the window of the bag. Made from sugar cane, even the mesh window itself is compostable. Morning Kiss Organic will offer organic gold, russet, and red potatoes in the new packaging. Gold Bell will offer conventional gold and russet potatoes sold under the brand name Morning Gold.
"Our new bags, which are fully compostable at home, fulfill a strong consumer demand for sustainable packaging," said Michael Guptill of Morning Kiss Organic. "We hope that retailers will join us in this effort to increase sustainable packaging offerings in stores, and we hope this initiative will give consumers extra incentive to add potatoes to their shopping carts."
Enjoyed with the skin on, all potatoes are a low calorie food with no fat, sodium or cholesterol. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B6, fiber and antioxidants, which numerous studies have found to give the body's immune system a boost.
Employing just-in-time inventory management, Arrowfarms produce is freshly packed to order. Produce is delivered daily to ensure the highest quality, and best tasting selection available.
