Fresh Del Monte promoting Pinkglow Pineapple at PMA Foodservice

Erick Hoyer, Fresh Del Monte’s senior district sales manager, national foodservice sales is thrilled to be heading back to the PMA Foodservice Conference & Expo this month, looking forward to reconnecting with his colleagues and friends in the foodservice industry in-person.

“This event allows for networking in many forms, including official events, side meetings and casual bump-in opportunities with the leaders in the foodservice industry,” he said. “In my role of managing national foodservice business for Fresh Del Monte, I feel this show is the most important one of the year. With everyone being in the same place again, the opportunities to brainstorm are bountiful.”

This will be Hoyer’s fifth time attending the PMA Foodservice, but his first as the leader of the National Foodservice channel for Del Monte Fresh Produce.

Fellow brand representatives attending on behalf of Fresh Del Monte this year include Jesus Rodriguez Calvo, senior VP of sales; Dave Russell, VP of national accounts; and Emily Troche, the newly promoted district sales manager.

“We’re extremely excited to get back out on the road to meet our customers and continue growing our foodservice footprint,” Hoyer said.

The Coral Gables, FL-based company will be at booth No. 705 and sharing its space with its partners at Mann Packing Co.

“This year we’re planning on highlighting the Pinkglow Pineapple, our variety of fresh-cut fruit and vegetables, grab-n-go items and our new hummus line,” Hoyer said. “From a brand perspective, I expect quite a buzz around Fresh Del Monte’s Pinkglow Pineapple and our new hummus. As an industry, I anticipate there being quite a bit of conversation regarding the current labor shortage.”

He noted that recently, he was able to get his hands on one of the Pinkglows and it was everything he expected and more.

“The flavor was out of this world,” Hoyer said. “I made some drinks with it, but also diced it up for my two-year-old daughter and she loved it too.”

While preparing a strategy for the PMA Foodservice show, Hoyer noted he typically sets up every meeting that he can ahead of time.

“I started communicating with core customers and potential customers over a month ago to prepare for the event. It’s an extremely busy yet rewarding week,” he said. “I’m most looking forward to being able to network. At the end of the day, our industry is based on relationship building, so this event provides the platform to build on those relationships.”

The company’s growth initiatives for the next year include launching a new hummus product into the foodservice channel and to further expand Fresh Del Monte’s Pinkglow Pineapple in both sales and availability.
