Scott Danner tapped as C&C Produce's new GM
Produce industry veteran Scott Danner has been named as the new general manager of C&C Produce in Kansas City, MO.
“C&C has had a severe growth spike and I am humbled to join the team,” Danner said. “I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and industry contacts here to help them continue that spike in growth.”
As part of his role as general manager, Danner will oversee all departments, and look for efficiencies in operations.
Danner most recently served as president of Pembroke Park, FL-based Premier Produce, a position he held for nearly seven years. Prior to that, he held a 10-year stint at Liberty Fruit in Kansas City, KS.
“The best thing about the produce industry is that it is always changing,” he said. “Every day is different and you get to problem solve. The networking and people are like a fraternity almost, and it’s an exciting industry.”
Nick Conforti, vice president of business development at C&C Produce, who partners with Joe Cali, said Danner’s diverse experience makes him the perfect person to join the team.
“As we continue to grow, the more high-quality people who understand our industry is imperative,” he said. “Bringing in someone who understands both foodservice and retail is invaluable.”
Conforti added that with the market demand being at an all-time high, it’s been a struggle to find people willing to work, and Danner will help C&C Produce learn to do more with less.
“He will bring new ideas on doing things more efficiently and help us to continue bringing customers savings and value,” he said. “We have strategic growth plans that will capitalize on both retail and foodservice with new markets to complement our current footprint.”
C&C Produce also recently hired a new transportation manager, Brett Hutton, to organize its fleet and help propel the company to the next level.
“It’s our people who make us special,” Conforti said. “We have been so fortunate to have such great hires over the years and build such a great team. Everyone works incredibly hard and comes together as a team. Everyone brings passion every day, and Scott is that same kind of person, which is why he will be a great fit here. C&C is now stronger and I’m more optimistic about our future than ever before.”
Danner noted he was interested in coming on board C&C Produce because it’s a company he has followed and he saw the great strides it has made in recent years.
“I’ve always had a lot of respect for them over the years," he said. "They were a tough competitor and I’m glad to be joining their team. The company is going in the right direction and I hope to be here for a long time.”
