JP Sullivan welcomes John Russell as new field manager
JP Sullivan, packer, shipper and marketer of fresh apples from the Eastern U.S., added John Russell as its newest field manager.
Growing up in the apple-growing region of Niagara County, Russell’s family still operates Russell Farms Inc. today. Like so many after college, Russell was drawn back to his agricultural roots. Spending a stint at the New York Apple & Cherry Association before going on to three decades with Sun Orchard Fruit Co. and Lake Ontario Fruit Inc. in apple packing, sales and business development.
“After more than 30 years on the inside of the apple business – from packing, shipping, marketing and sales, I’ve been fortunate to get to know a number of apple growers in New England and New York,” said Russell, field manager, JP Sullivan. “I look forward to getting to know their operations better and building relationships while being a conduit of information with packing and sales. It feels a bit like coming full circle in my career.”
A short list of the field manager’s responsibilities includes grower and packer relations, maintaining packing standards and sourcing fruit, all while providing transparent and honest communications throughout the entire supply chain.
“The field manager is a vital role within the apple industry,” said Chuck Yow, president, JP Sullivan. “A field manager requires a very hands-on person who can wear a number of hats on any given day. John’s background couldn’t be more ideal. We’re looking forward to the expertise he brings to JP Sullivan and the partnerships in the orchards and packhouses.”
