
J. E. Russell’s Marco Corbo dies at 46
Marco Andrea Corbo, vice president of sales and operations at J. E. Russell, died on Tuesday, June 18. He was 46. Mr. Corbo was known for his diligent work ethic and unwavering devotion to his family. His gentle and humble demeanor will be greatly missed.
Mr. Corbo started his journey with J.E. Russell after graduating high school. He was initially involved through his father’s trucking company, Falconcrest. He handled truck loading and unloading at Pearson International Airport, ensuring timely deliveries to the terminal. He began as a dock worker, advancing through the operations division responsible for all receiving, shipping, quality control and logistic duties. Known for his strong leadership and deep respect for his team, Mr. Corbo mentored many, guiding them into new roles within the company. His crucial role expanded over time, resultinging in his appointment as vice president of sales and operations, and as the category buyer for berries. His warm hospitality and business insight endeared him to customers who frequented the company, sharing meals and conducting business with him.
Mr. Corbo’s significant contributions extended beyond his professional duties, fostering a familial atmosphere within the J.E. Russell team. His compassionate nature and inclusive leadership style attracted employees, customers, vendors and even competitors to the Ontario Food Terminal daily.
Mr. Corbo was a cherished father to Juliano and Bianca, son of Vincenzo and Filomena and brother of Domenic and Francesco.
Visitation will occur at Bernardo Funeral Home, 2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Saturday, June 22, 2024, and Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a private cremation.
