Associated Grocers names interim president, CEO

David Politz has been named Associated Grocers Inc.'s interim president and CEO. Politz succeeds Manard Lagasse Jr., who will be departing the company at the end of the year for another opportunity.

Politz has a long-tenured history with Associated Grocers, as he began his career nearly 40 years ago in 1985 as a part-time employee while attending college.

During his career, he has served in various leadership roles in the company’s information services department, as well as the wholesale operations department, and most recently as senior vice president and chief information officer. His contributions have been impactful to the growth of the company, as he has led the development and implementation of the critical systems required to support the company’s retail members.

Mission-minded and future-focused, Politz gives insight into what will be a seamless transition for the company entering its 75th year of service. “Associated Grocers is singularly focused on the long-term success of the independent retailer and, as such, we will continue our efforts to expand, improve, modernize and automate our facility and systems to ensure that we remain the preferred wholesale distribution and support center for the independent grocery retailer,”  said. “We appreciate Manard’s (Lagasse) bold leadership and guidance. He leaves a legacy of enthusiastic service to our members, our employees and the communities we serve.”

Associated Grocers, Inc., is a Baton Rouge-based, full-service grocery wholesaler servicing over 180 retail members across five states.
