“This paper box is designed to accommodate a wide range of products for retailers,” said Tal Cloud, president of Paper, Pulp and Film, which brings nearly 40 years of experience in the agriculture sector. “We initially targeted our four- and six-pack apples, complete with a paper band and UPC code tailored to each variety in the box. Now, we’ve expanded to include avocados, apricots, tomatoes and pretty much anything that traditionally comes in a clamshell packaging.”
The item has seen huge sale increases month over month since its release and has been a game-changer in the industry. Coming up, the company will be offering more sizes — medium, large and extra large — to help drive sales even more.
Furthermore, Paper, Pulp and Film’s fiber box solutions feature eye-catching graphics and printing, enhancing brand visibility compared to traditional poly clamshells.
“We offer several methods for sealing the package while keeping the fruit visible,” Cloud said. “The fiber box provides a range of closure options that facilitate quality inspections, including paper or plastic banding, linerless labels with or without windows, partial adhesive labels, field pack closures, flow wraps, interior tray seals and options with open tops and handles.”
As an independent company, Paper, Pulp and Film thinks customer-first and works to ensure it has solutions that its client crave. The company specializes in a variety of paper boxes designed for the retail of fruits and vegetables.
“By collaborating closely with customers, we can identify mutually beneficial opportunities and offer tailored solutions for replacing traditional clamshell packaging for growers, shippers and packers,” Cloud said.
The need for fiber boxes has been growing, as customers look for more product branding than poly clams. Plus, thanks to UPC codes on the physical package, the fiber box is easier for self-checkout and for scanners at the retail level.
“When you do a four-pack of apples, for example, there’s very little spoilage for the retailer because it’s a fixed-weight pack that is sold at a price per pack or per pound, but there’s not people touching the fruit and being picked through,” Cloud said.
Additionally, there’s less shrinkage with a fixed count and weight packages than bulk sale, making it more efficient for the consumer and the retailer, so the boxes have multiple advantages. As the IFPA show approaches, Paper, Pulp and Film is poised to showcase its innovative packaging solutions that not only meet the evolving demands of the market but also promote sustainability.
