Fox Packaging continues to innovate
Fox Packaging has been providing fresh produce packers and shippers with flexible packaging solutions for more than 60 years and continues to innovate and grow.
In 2024, Fox Packaging made significant strides in operational efficiency, market expansion and team development.
“Investments in automation allowed us to boost production while maintaining high-quality standards,” said Victoria Lopez, marketing and business development manager for the McAllen, TX-based company. “Our team also grew with hires such as Jen Doxey as director of sales and Jensie Smith as retail and key account manager. These additions, along with the introduction of our sustainability manager, Iliana Csanyi, bolstered our focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric growth.”
A significant milestone for the company was the elimination of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) from all its flexible packaging options, reinforcing a commitment to sustainability and safety.
“We’ve introduced advancements like plastic weight reductions across our mesh product lines and made strides toward increasing post-consumer recycled content in our packaging, demonstrating our focus on innovation and environmental stewardship,” Lopez said.
The Fox Fresh Mesh product line is engineered to meet the needs of produce packers and retailers with its non-abrasive, one-dimensional mesh design that prevents skin-damaging indentations often caused by traditional woven mesh products.
“This innovative design not only safeguards the quality and appearance of produce but also facilitates optimal airflow, helping to extend shelf life and reduce shrink,” Lopez said. “Customers value the Fox Fresh Mesh for its ability to enhance product presentation while delivering superior protection and extended freshness. Last year, the company invested in a pouch program, which has enabled it to better support domestic needs and expand private-label offerings.

“Additionally, we are investing in material research and testing to improve the recyclability and clarity of our pouches, ensuring they meet sustainability goals while maintaining the visual appeal consumers expect,” Lopez said. “The demand for pouch packaging continues to grow as retailers and growers seek portable, resealable, and lightweight solutions that align with sustainability and branding goals.”
After all, one of the most exciting advancements in the industry is the shift toward sustainable packaging solutions.
