Nogales convention celebrates 50th anniversary

Cathy-Burns-Lance-JTUBAC, AZ — The 50th Nogales Produce Convention and Golf Tournament was held Nov. 1-3 at the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa. Lance Jungmeyer, president of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, said during the event that he expected the final attendance count to exceed 700.

Opening day of panels discussed a wide range of topics. The outdoor opening fiesta on Nov. 1 took advantage of Arizona’s pleasant, if mildly chilly, weather. As the popular golf tournament ran Nov. 2-3, there was the third annual culinary showcase, demonstrating “top dishes out of Mexico’s top produce.” There was also a powerful FPAA women’s leadership invitational with a discussion of the advancing careers for women in produce.
