The United Family, Rainier partner for Apples and Pears on a Mission initiative
Throughout February, The United Family and Rainier Fruit joined forces to donate 5,000 pairs of socks to non-profit organizations across the state of Texas through the Apples and Pears on a Mission initiative. More than 30,000 pairs of socks have been donated through this program over the last six years.
Throughout the fall and winter months of 2024, a portion of the proceeds from purchasing Rainier Fruit pears and apples went to buying brand-new socks to donate to organizations that support the homeless community.
Oftentimes, socks are one of the most requested items at homeless shelters, but they can also be one of the least donated items. The goal of this initiative is to help put socks in the hands of organizations that make a difference for the homeless community across Texas.
“For some, a new pair of socks can make a world of difference,” said Joseph Bunting, produce business director for The United Family. “That’s why we are so grateful to partner with Rainier Fruit to do this program for the sixth year. We are also thankful to our guests for participating and helping us positively impact our community.”
