Summer fruit is quickly entering the produce merchandising scene

It's time to switch over to summer fruit merchandising displays.

fruit displayCalifornia is starting to ship the finest quality stone fruit to kick off the early season. Apricots are available and are already being promoted in store ads.

California cherries are showing some excellent quality on a fairly good market. Cartons of bagged cherries are already on store displays and are being promoted in ads. Washington cherries will start to ship in June.

California peaches, plums and nectarines are now in season with prices heading toward ad promotion levels. Sizes are increasing along with the finest quality fruit.

Watermelons are in good supply out of Florida with moderate demand on a steady market. Mini and seedless watermelons are arriving through Nogales. All watermelons consist of excellent quality and are promotable.

Cantaloupes and honeydews are increasing in supply out of Mexico. Quality and color is excellent. A good mix of sizes is available.

Grapes are still being supplied by Chile. Red seedless grapes are in good supply coupled with a favorable market. New crop grapes are transitioning to Mexico.
