Raley's names Michael Schutt director of produce and floral

Michael Schutt has been promoted to Raley's director of produce and floral. Schutt will be responsible for maintaining the produce and floral department sales and net margin targets, as well as developing his continued leadership role of a talented merchant and quality control team.

Schutt joined the company in 1986, in a town that for most part was nothing more than a gas stop — Winnemucca, NE. With Raley’s expanding in the Bay Area in the early 90s, he made a big move geographically to be part of the opening of the company's Fremont store as assistant produce manager. In 1992 he was promoted to produce manager of its Newark store. He was hired onto the produce buying team in 1997 as a quality control inspector and relief buyer where he spent the next seven years before being promoted to produce category merchant in 2004. In 2017 he was elevated to senior category manager of produce and floral.

The company said Schutt has been instrumental over the years with his valuable contribution to grow the company's organic produce program that it began testing in 1997. Schutt currently serves on the executive board of the Fresh Produce & Floral Council.
