FPFC installs new chairman and officers at annual gala

More than 600 members and guests honored the installation of Liane Mast as chairman of the board of the Fresh Produce & Floral Council at the organization's annual dinner dance, which was held Jan. 26 in Anaheim, CA.

Ms. Mast is in charge of the floral departments for Stater Bros. Markets, one of the nation's larger independent regional supermarket chains, headquartered in Colton, CA.

The officers installed along with Ms. Mast were Chairman-elect Ken Ewalt of Ready Pac and Treasurer Patty Knoll of Temkin International. Raul Gallegos of Bristol Farms moved to the post of immediate past chairman. Carissa Mace was recently hired by the council and serves as its chief staff officer and president

"The Way We Were" was the theme of the dance and acted as a reminder of the many industry veterans who served on the council in its formative years. More than 60 former board members were honored in a special video tribute shown during the event.

The council was founded more than 40 years ago by a group of Southern California wholesalers and retailers to foster a good image for the industry and increase consumption of fruits and vegetables. Over the years, it has expanded its scope and now holds events throughout California and in Arizona.
