AFE application for retail florist continued education grants

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) offers three grants for retail florists that provide reimbursement for educational floral industry events, courses or webinars. Applications for all continued education grants are due Oct. 1, 2024. Don't miss this opportunity to receive funding to further your education.

Arizona Retail Florist Travel Education Grant
Open to Retail Florists in Arizona
Applicants must be owners, managers, or employees of traditional retail florists with a brick-and-mortar storefront in Arizona and must be requesting this grant for an event that takes place outside of Arizona. An exception to the out-of-state travel requirement is allowed if a national program (like SAF Convention or AIFD Symposium) is held within Arizona. Each year, one recipient will be selected to receive a travel grant of up to $1,000.

The grant will be made as a reimbursement after the event is attended. A recipient can receive the grant once every five years. The intent of this grant is to expand an applicant’s attendance beyond events they regularly attend and potentially share their expanded knowledge with their industry peers in Arizona. Learn more and apply here.

Ken and Jean Royer Family Fund – Retail Florist Education Travel Grant
Open to All Retail Florists in the U.S.
This annual grant is designed to facilitate ongoing education and networking at industry events, particularly for individuals who might face financial barriers to participation. It assists in defraying the expenses associated with attending educational conferences, which provide essential business development opportunities.

Applicants to this new grant must be first-time attendees of the specific conference they plan to join, and they should either own or work for a traditional brick-and-mortar retail floral shop. Additionally, applicants must be able to cover all upfront costs associated with attending the event. Each grant will cover half the conference registration and travel fees, with a maximum award of $2,000. Learn more and apply here.

The Retail Florist's Continued Education Grant
Open to Retail Florists in the Maryland, Virginia and DC Area

The Retail Florist’s Continued Education Grant will provide annual reimbursement grants to retail floral owners in the Maryland, Virginia and DC areas to continue their education through in-person industry events, community courses or webinar classes. This grant was established by Bob and Carol Sharpe, retired third-generation florists from Frederick, Maryland.

Reimbursement grants awarded can be between $50 – $500 for individual business-related courses, and will be distributed as reimbursement grants. This means the course must be paid for and completed within the year in which the application is being submitted before submitting an application for reimbursement. Receipt for payment and completion certificate are required with the application. The course must have been completed within the prior 12-month period. Learn more and apply here.
