AFE announces new officers and trustee appointments
The American Floral Endowment announced the new chairman of the board, officers and trustees appointments effective Sept. 1, 2024.
AFE officers and trustees play a crucial role in setting the long-term strategic direction of the Endowment’s research and educational programs and resources, offering their unique knowledge to assist in carrying out our mission.
Trustees volunteer their time and experience, participate in all AFE events and meetings, and travel at their own expense. They are elected by the Board’s nominating ommittee and serve a three-year term with the option of an additional three-year term.
Assuming the chairman of the board position from Ken Young of Phoenix Flower Shops is David Garcia of the Pete Garcia Co. Other new executive committee appointments include Bill Foster as AFE’s treasurer/secretary, Laura Shinall assuming the floral marketing fund chair position, and the appointment of Art Van Wingerden to the AFE executive committee. The young professional council adviser to the Board position, held by Dr. Melinda Knuth, also transitions to Dr. Joshua Craver from Colorado State University.
AFE would also like to recognize the outgoing members of the Board for their service and dedication: Pat Dahlson, David Boulton, Jim Daly, Steve Fryea and Mauricio Jaramillo.
