1-800-Flowers.com teamed up with Uber Direct

1-800-FLOWERS.COM Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc. announced a collaboration leveraging Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, to help florists nationwide fulfill more orders. The announcement came just ahead of Valentine’s Day—one of the busiest floral holidays of the year.

Through this collaboration, the 1-800-Flowers.com network of local florists, BloomNet, seamlessly tapped into Uber Direct’s extensive delivery technology and network, enabling faster, more flexible deliveries to meet demand during peak holiday surges and year-round.

For florists, managing delivery logistics during high-demand holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day presented a significant challenge. While many flower shops had year-round drivers and dedicated delivery vans, limited vehicle capacity often forced them to turn down orders during holiday rushes. By integrating Uber Direct, florists who were part of the 1-800-Flowers.com BloomNet network and used the BloomNet proprietary Business Management System (BMS) gained instant access to additional drivers, ensuring timely delivery of bouquets even during peak holiday rushes.

“Valentine’s was one of the most important and demanding weeks for florists. That year, we anticipated delivering about 24 million stems for the holiday,” said Jon Feldman, president of BloomNet. “Our team was constantly out in the field personally visiting and building relationships with the thousands of shops in our floral network. We understood the logistical delivery challenges surrounding peak holidays like Valentine’s Day, so we teamed up with Uber Direct to provide our network with additional support. With Uber Direct, our florists could extend their delivery capacity, ensuring more people could show their love and appreciation with fresh flowers—without compromise.”

By leveraging Uber’s global logistics expertise, BloomNet florists using BMS were able to dynamically dispatch, track and fulfill same-day floral deliveries, even as demand spiked. This was especially important for a holiday like Valentine’s Day, when many shoppers made last-minute purchases.

“We were thrilled to join forces with 1-800-Flowers.com year-round, but especially to make that Valentine’s Day gifting seamless,” said Kiran Vinta, head of Uber Direct for the U.S. and Canada at Uber. “With Uber Direct, florists were able to meet increased demand without logistical bottlenecks, ensuring that no bouquet—or heartfelt sentiment—went undelivered.”

Uber Direct allowed merchants to maintain full control over the customer experience, offering white-label delivery without redirecting buyers to third-party apps. The service was already powering deliveries across multiple industries, from retail to grocery and now, flowers.

By integrating Uber Direct, 1-800-Flowers.com reinforced its commitment to innovation, ensuring its BloomNet florists had the resources to meet seasonal demand surges while providing a top-tier customer experience.

This collaboration went live across the U.S. in over 1,000 BloomNet network shops. 1-800-Flowers.com accepted floral orders for same-day delivery through 3 p.m. local time in most parts of the country, and up to 6 p.m. local time in select markets.
