“With over 100 years of experience, we’re equipped to handle any challenge that comes our way,” said Jordan Grainger, the company’s vice president of sales and business development. “As the new generations have taken over, the company has evolved and continues to grow.”
Going into 2025, the company is excited about what’s ahead, especially after a strong 2024.
“Business was good this past year,” Grainger said. “Every year presents new challenges and as a company we were very successful overcoming those challenges this past year.”
Last year, Ben B successfully launched a citrus bagging line and have added SKUs and continue to do more to better support customers’ needs.
“There are many keys to success, but a few that we like to recognize are the employees that work for Ben B. and our customers,” Grainger said. “Making sure we have both the right employees and the right customers have been a few of the keys to our success.”
Customers are Ben B.’s top priority and it works to ensure its customers become partners and works with them to develop strategies to grow each other’s businesses.
“Customer feedback is very important to us as a company,” Grainger said. “We use this feedback, negative, positive, or indifferent, to help improve our quality and service we provide to our customers. Worst thing to do with feedback from customers is nothing at all.”
Furthermore, Ben B’s procurement team is dedicated to sourcing the finest quality and variety of products for its customers.
“We take great pride in the quality we provide,” Grainger said. “At Ben B. Schwartz, we’ve fostered a company culture focused on delivering quality and service that aims to exceed our customers’ expectations. Throughout our operations—during unloading, storage, and shipping of produce—we implement numerous quality checkpoints. We understand that quality can fluctuate rapidly and is also subjective. Our goal is to align our standards and expectations with those of our customers.”
Working in the Motor City has always been important to the company’s success, as Ben B takes advantage of the great food town that it has become.
“Detroit is a very strong produce city,” Grainger said. “From independent grocery stores to foodservice, the quality standards in Detroit are very high. Detroit also has access to a large portion of the population of North America.”
