Braga Fresh announced several promotions and additions to its sales and marketing team, all designed to support the company’s efforts to meet the growing demand for organic produce.

The company promoted Casey Mills to director of sales.  Mills has been a part of the Braga Fresh sales team for almost five years. He is responsible for management of the Braga Fresh sales team, pricing, inventory and commodity managers.

Following two consecutive years of short crops due to frost, Stemilt’s Artisan Organics apricots will have more volume this year so retailers should ensure they have cots included in their summer produce plan. Brianna Shales, Stemilt marketing director, said this year’s 100 percent certified organic crop is full of flavor, high-quality, attractive apricots that will provide retailers the opportunity to set up key promotional windows in late June and early July to delight consumers across the country.

Retailer and general registration for Organic Produce Summit 2021 is now open for the live and in-person event being held Sept. 15-16 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Monterey, CA.

Fruit World, a family-owned, flavor-focused grower-shipper of organic and conventional fruit, is now shipping its organic cherries and will begin packing and shipping organic apricots the first week of May. "What a difference one year makes," said Bianca Kaprielian, Fruit World co-founder and CEO. "2020 was a bumpy stone fruit season in California, but this year we had enough chill hours and favorable weather, and the trees are full of great looking fruit."

After working with a proprietary plant breeder and trialing many different seed varieties, Lakeside Organic Gardens has found a “Sweet Baby Broccoli” (also known as broccolette and broccolini) that it believes is superior to others and has good supplies of it for the organic buyer.

Organic Grower Summit 2021 presented by Western Growers and OPN will be held at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort in Monterey, CA, on Dec. 1-2.  Exhibitor registration will open in May with general registration slated to open in June.
