Homegrown Organic Farms’ long history began with organic citrus products a quarter of a century ago. That’s when John and Cindy France began their organic efforts, inspired by their belief that there had to be a better alternative to growing practices that affected soil and killed beneficial insects.

The Organic Grower Summit, presented by Western Growers and the Organic Produce Network, will honor long-time organic grower Vic Smith as the recipient of the fourth annual Organic Grower Summit’s Grower of the Year. Smith, CEO of JV Smith Cos., was selected based on his ongoing commitment and dedication to excellence in organic production, organic industry leadership, and innovation.

Fruit World, a family-owned, flavor-focused grower-shipper of organic and conventional fruit, expects a robust citrus season, particularly for this year’s organic lemon crop. Promotable volumes of organic lemons from California’s desert region are anticipated through early March. Fruit World will also offer a diverse citrus program throughout the season, including organic and conventional mandarins, organic oranges, and organic specialty citrus such as sweet limes and Minneola tangelos.

Up and coming leaders from three of the nations’ most progressive organic growing operations have been confirmed as panelists for the Keynote presentation at the 2021 Organic Grower Summit presented by Western Growers and OPN Dec. 1-2, in Monterey, CA.

TerraFresh Organics, a Mill Valley, CA-based supplier of premium organic fruit, has entered into an agreement that sells majority ownership to Frutura through its Dayka & Hackett subsidiary. Frutura is a sales and marketing network formed earlier this year with the acquisition of Dayka & Hackett and Agrícola Don Ricardo.
