It's the ideal time to promote grapes, strawberries and cherries

If you're after some hefty sales, then take advantage of featuring any or all of these high volume mid-summer items: grapes, strawberries and cherries. With a shortage of workers, all three items take very little labor time to display. Just take the packages out of the cartons and place them on the displays.grape display

California red and green grapes are in good volume and excellent quality on a slightly lower market — very promotable.

California strawberries have reached their peak. Demand is fairly good with a slightly higher market and very good quality. There is an increase in volume due to high temperatures. The heat has reduced harvesting time along with a shortage of workers. Still, strawberries are being shipped and promotions are fruitful.

Northwest cherries are in good demand on a steady market; size and quality are excellent. Get in at least one more promotion before the market escalates and the season ends.

Merchandising: Promoting all three would be ideal and would put your produce sales well over the top. If you can only afford one or two of the items, your sales will still be immensely increased. But your displays must have some strong muscle and visibility at the department entrance. Set up an aggressive waterfall display onto the original boxes with false bottoms to appear massive and to control shrink.
