Todd Greiner Farms Packing LLC, a leading grower-packer-shipper of Michigan produce, announced the beginning of its 2025 sweet corn season, with shipping set to begin the week of July 20 and peak volume expected the week of Aug. 17, just in time for Labor Day promotions.

Connecticut is known for its diversity in production from the ground to the Sound, and this holds true for the produce grown.

Connecticut farmers cultivate about 7,000 acres of vegetables, melons, potatoes and sweet potatoes for a market value near $53 million. An additional 3,429 acres of fruit, including 1,917 acres of apples, are harvested with a total market value of $36.9 million.

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. appointed Miles Fraser-Jones as vice president of sales and product management, deciduous and citrus (international) to strengthen global category performance.

Fraser-Jones will oversee North American sales and lead international sourcing and product management for the company’s deciduous and citrus categories. He will report directly to Danny Dumas, senior vice president of sales, product management and marketing for North America.

The segment featured Kyle Mathison, Stemilt owner and fourth-generation cherry grower, who explained how cherries can become waterlogged and prone to splitting if rain falls during the fruit’s maturation.
