Applewood, Produce Moms cooking up holiday sales
Applewood Fresh, a premier produce brand and fourth-generation grower-packer-shipper-marketer of Michigan apples, and The Produce Moms, one of America’s most trusted fruit and vegetable influencers, have launched a co-branded apple package just in time for fall and the holiday baking season. The new co-branded apple bags start shipping Nov. 9.
The new packaging features popular Applewood Fresh Michigan grown apples. The clear, resealable bags are available in three and five pounds and feature the apples riding in the back of The Produce Moms car filled with The Produce Moms’ characters. The package design is not only eye-catching and adorable, it contains a call to action in the form of a QR code linked to an online treasure trove of curriculum perfect for distance learning, including activity sheets and the piece de resistance; a virtual online field trip to a Michigan apple farm and production facility.
“Right now, it’s obviously not possible to physically offer field trips to students to see the wonderful operations behind Applewood Fresh’s uniquely delicious Michigan apple crop," said Antonia Mascari, vice president of marketing for Applewood Fresh. "We were not going to let that stop us from giving them the same field trip experience virtually. Educators and parents are looking for more ways to enrich the Zoom classroom, and virtual field trips are wildly popular right now. We believe visiting a Michigan apple orchard online through our packaging will appeal to everyone, not just students!”
“The beautiful thing about the virtual field trip to a Michigan apple grower, is that you no longer need to live in close proximity to Michigan," said Lori Taylor, CEO and founder of The Produce Moms. "People of all ages, in any part of the country where Michigan apples are sold in the Applewood Fresh and The Produce Mom’s co-branded packaging, will be able to 'travel' to Michigan to learn more about how and why apples grown in Michigan are so special and delicious! And that’s the beauty of online field trips — they offer an experience that wasn’t previously available to many who couldn’t travel. With this new packaging, we’re bringing the Michigan apple farm to the consumer!”
